General advises for your wedding day:
  • Before deciding the ceremony time, consider the sunset time, just to be sure we will have enough sunlight for better pictures.
  • Ask your guests to take pictures from their sits or from those places where they will be sure not to interfere with the photographer session.
  • You can take your usual sunbath, but be careful!!! Tan markings should not be noticed under your wedding dress.
  • Use water resistant makeup
  • If you fiancé sweats, recommend him wearing a white t-shirt under his shirt.
  • Try that the color of your flowers combines with your makeup.
  • If you will use you hair down, please be sure that during the ceremony, it won't be in your face. Your face must be always clear; everybody will want to look at your expressions at that moment!
General advises for you Trash the Dress session:
  • Use water resistant makeup.
  • Use a bikini under your dress. After the session, you will be uncomfortable with your wet dress!
  • Take some towels with you.
  • Use white underwear.
Concejos Generales
Trash the Dress tips
  • Lleva unas toallas contigo.
  • Remember that buying beach/summer attire in the winter is sometimes difficult depending on where you live. Try to remember to buy summer clothes, swimsuits, and sandals in the summer or you can order online year-round.
  • When deciding on a wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses consider choosing informal dresses or sundresses in light fabrics such as organza or chiffon. Even with the cooler temps of the winter, Mexico is still very hot to guests unaccustomed to the heat. Lightweight linen suits are popular for the guys. Please keep in mind that you will be packing these dresses/suits in your suitcase, so you might want to have your drycleaner pack it for you and/or pack a travel iron or steamer.
  • As of January 1st, 2007 it is required that everyone have a passport to enter Mexico. After the wedding, you can mail your passport with your marriage license into a passport agency and they will change the last name free of charge. It is strongly encouraged that you speak with your local and national governments regarding specific details and nuances of your particular citizenship.
  • Outlets in Mexico are 2 prong. If you are bringing a curling iron, hair dryer or laptop, you will want to bring a 3 prong adapter and a surge protector to protect your appliances from power surges.

Remember the type of straps you have on your wedding dress and try to protect yourself against tan lines that go against your strap lines. If you are wearing a strapless, consider bringing and wearing tube tops or strapless bikini tops. Also, consider bringing a tanning spray just in case you have to spray tan your tan lines at the last minute.

Welcome Bag ideas: Have a rubber stamp made of your wedding logo or monogram and stamp recycled bags from your paper store. When you get to Mexico you can buy; bottled water, snacks, a bottle of tequila and shot glasses, a map of the area, schedule of events, anti-bacterial gel, 2 coronas, a sarong (can be used as a beach sheet/dress/skirt/tablecloth/light blanket for child), etc. Items you might want to consider bringing down from the states or Canada; travel size soaps, sunscreen, Tylenol/Alka Selzer (other hangover cure), hand towels, Personalized can coozie or tee shirt, bottle opener, blow-up water toys, etc.

If your hair is prone to frizz up in humid climates, bring anti-frizz hair products with you. During vacation you do not want to spend a lot of time doing your hair. Bring products that you can leave-in and have beach hair all day long. Low-maintenance hair styles will allow you to have more time to enjoy your time in Mexico.
